NICHOLAS WILSON

Nick is an enrolled Puyallup Tribal member and a descendant of the Yakima People. He has been speaking Twulshootseed since he was in sixth grade at Chief Leschi Schools. He knew he wanted to keep learning more and be able to teach the language to his community. Through the Tribe’s Summer Youth Program, he worked for the Language Dept in the summer of 2021 at age sixteen. He graduated a year early and went right to work at the 2024 Canoe Journey. After this, he wanted to pursue a career in Language as a teacher. Since December of 2024, he’s been working at the Puyallup Tribal Language Program. He is currently taking classes and studying for his Level One Certification. He has an established language nest at home and speak twulshootseed everyday with his family. In his spare time, he likes to make videos about video games. his hobbies are to take walks and showcase pictures and videos of his car on social media.
