About Amber:
Amber Sterud Hayward is an enrolled Puyallup Tribal member who has been employed with the Puyallup Tribe since 2002.  She spent approximately 8 years working in the Historic Preservation Department, and transferred to the Language Program in 2011 as a Language Instructor.

About Zalmai ʔəswəli Zahir:
ʔəswəli is currently working on his PhD in Linguistics at the University of Oregon, has contracted with the Puyallup Tribe to provide instruction and consultation services. Zahir teaches Lushootseed through online classes and during Northwest Indian Language Institute (NILI), which occurs every summer. Zahir has been working with the Lushootseed language and culture for over 40 years. He was first introduced to Lushootseed at age 11 by his step-father, Puyallup Tribal member Don Matheson, and he worked with several Lushootseed speaking elders.
